Wallaby (or Wally for short) was found wandering in a common dumping ground behind the Sweetwater Veterinary Hospital.  A kind, Good Samaritan reached out to us for help with this guy!  Wallaby is a happy, silly guy with lots of energy.  He gets along well with dogs outside but can be a bit possessive inside the house if he has pent up energy or doesn’t get enough mental and physical stimulation.  Wallaby also has shoulder dysplasia which can cause some pain near his neck/shoulder area.  On 3 different occasions, Wally nipped out of pain when his neck area was touched.  His pain levels and medical condition are better controlled now with daily joint supplements and anti-inflammatory medicine as needed.  However, because of this diagnosis, we feel he would also do best in a home with older kids who can respect his space.  He would also do best in a home where he is not confined into a small space for long periods of time (kennel) as this causes Wally more pain.

Wallaby is a high energy dog and since he is a poodle mix, he will require regular grooming and brushing!  He will also require not only physical stimulation, but mental stimulation as well. This includes activities such as treat balls and puzzles, snuffle mats, hiking/walking at different, exciting places for new smells!  He also looooooves to play fetch!  He is in his happiest place when he is outside 🌳 🌲

Wally is also prone to hot spots and we will be getting more information on this from the vet!

Daisy is currently residing in East Tennessee at woofwoof fosters dog rescue. She spent some time of her life in a high-kill shelter where she had been found starving in the streets. Later on, she was adopted by an elderly man in his 90s. However, Daisy was too energetic and active for him to take care of her. The man was forced to part ways with Daisy, his dog. However, he couldn't find a place for her as all the shelters and rescues were full. We were full as well, but received a call to rescue Daisy while the man was at the vet's office, where she was scheduled to be euthanized! We couldn't say no to this special girl, and boy are we glad we didn't. It's worth noting that Daisy has her own unique story, which makes her very special. While she is crate-trained, she prefers to be close to her human(s) on a dog bed or couch.

Daisy is a well-behaved dog, although she has a penchant for the taste of good dog beds. She loves to cuddle and play and has been tested with cats and deemed unbothered by confident felines who don’t run. She will however need some work on for the cats who run. However, she does prefer to be the dominant female dog and may have issues with other female dogs who are not submissive. Daisy enjoys being indoors near her humans or playing outdoors with other dogs.

Daisy needs to be fed separately from other dogs as she has a strong focus on food, and has had to fight for it to survive in the past. However, she is not aggressive towards humans when it comes to food, even if something is taken away from her. Daisy has not had much socialization with young kids so she requires a home with older children that will respect her space (8+) or no children. Daisy has been doing great during our 'Doggy Day Out' events. She loves car rides and pup cups! During our last outing, she walked well on a leash while we were inside Rural King. Daisy also enjoyed getting petted by strangers and familiar adults alike, and was happy to give kisses to everyone who asked for them.

Behavior Traits: Quiet, Shy, Playful, Sweet

Hello, my name is Dove.  I am a very shy girl that would love to have a chance to warm up to you! I came from a hoarding situation and was not allowed to socialize with other humans. Once I warm up to you, I am the most loving and happiest furbaby around! My rescue mom says you can receive help from her to transition into your home!

I prefer to be around people that know and respect my boundaries and are willing to take their time to let me warm up to you. I have never bitten or growled when being approached outdoors. I will hide to feel safe.  While I may be shy with new humans, my rescue mom uses me as a peer model to introduce new dogs to our rescue!  Yep, I am cool as a cucumber with new dogs and respect their space but still love to play!

Please call my rescue mom to set up a visit or a video call with me to see my true self! It took me 4 days to warm up to my rescue mom! However, please remember the 3,3,3 rule (3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to feel at home).

My rescue mom (woofwoof fosters) works with a dog trainer and has already had me evaluated!

Looking forward to meeting with you to help find my new furever home!

Sincerely yours,

Dove

Folly

Birthday: ~March 2023

Weight: 35-40 lbs

Breed: Heinz 57

Does well with kids

Ignores cats

Dog Friendly

Behavior traits: Quiet, Gentle, Affectionate, Loyal

Adoption Fee: $100

Meet Folly!  He’s sweet and petite at around 35-40 lbs full grown.  He was originally a resident at the Loudon County Animal Shelter from the time he was around 5 months old until he was approximately 1 years old.  He is a shy guy but quick to warm up, especially with women!  One of the volunteers at the shelter followed him to our rescue to continue working with him if that tells you how special Folly is! 🥰

Here at the rescue we have worked on plumping him up and building his confidence with new people!  He has really come out of his shell and made quick friends with all the dogs here at the rescue.  He also became a favorite of the 3 year old human on the property.  We quickly figured out he loves kids who give him space initially to warm up at first.  He LOVES snuggles and giving/receiving kisses!  We are working on potty training with him and he has been using the doggie door pretty consistently to use the bathroom outside.

Gus

Birthday:

Weight: 42 lbs

Breed: Heeler/Boxer Mix

Dog Friendly

Kid Friendly

Loves to cuddle

Behavior Traits: Affectionate, Loving, Cuddle Bug

Adoption Fee: $125

What we know about Gus:
Great with dogs
Great with kids (has lived with kids and another dog previously)
Awesome temperament
Calm, great on a leash
About 2 years old
Potty trained
Crate trained
Loves snuggles

Recovering from demodex mange (not contagious) but will require a few more medicated baths to help with continued healing

We think he could be a heeler mix because of the speckles but we truly still don’t have a great idea about breed.  The regrowth of hair didn’t help us with this as much as we thought it would 😂

Can be cat tested upon request!

Beauty

Birthday: February 2019

Weight: 54 lbs

Breed: Lab/Hound mix

Dog Selective

Kids 10+

Adoption Fee: $100

Behavior Traits: Affectionate, Playful, Energetic

Beauty was found wandering all alone in Sweetwater, TN near the dump by a Good Samaritan who posted on Facebook in a lost and found group but no one came forward to claim her. :( Our animal control contact then reached out to us for help with this situation and connected us with the finder. At the time, the Monroe County shelter was over capacity and euthanizing on intake. When she arrived at woofwoof fosters it appeared something strange was going on with her eyes. Turns out, she had a condition called Entropion which caused her eyelashes/eyelids to grow inwards! We scheduled her for surgery ASAP as this can lead to blindness if left untreated!

Beauty has since recovered from surgery and is now ready for adoption! She can be dog selective, particularly with other dominant females it seems. We plan to continue working with/testing her to further evaluate if she would be able to possibly live with another dog if their temperaments lined up or if she needs to be the only dog in the home. She would do best in a home without young children as she has a LOT of energy and not great body awareness. She loves to run and play and will require mental stimulation in her new home as well as frequent physical stimulation. We think some simple scent trail training or possibly snuffle mats may help meet her needs as we feel she is likely a hound mix with a curious snout!

Per our vet, Beauty could potentially need ‘touch up’ surgery on her eyes down the line if they start to bother her again.  This is not 100% guaranteed but we want to be sure we let potential adopters know that this could be a potential cost.  She also has seasonal allergies which affects her eyes as well. During the spring/summer months, Beauty will likely need eye ointment to help with this, especially if she remains in East TN.
